It may be the new play, but I have 2 million lines of Java code that ain't gonna convert themselves!

With Adobe Flex is possible to make GUI apps that are much superior to Java GUI apps. The async i/o capabilities can be used to work around the lack of explicit multi-threading. Besides, AIR is supposed to support Google Gears APIs, which means there will be a thread pool for doing background processing. Only this thread pool is communicated to with messaging.

The most likely outcome of events is a Leopard release with Java 6
released on Leopard a week to two later. Probably, it will be like
1.5 on Tiger and ship as an optional non-default download in the
beginning. I'm just speculating, but one does tend to read the tea-
leaves with some degree of accuracy after a while.
And it's not just restricted to Java. I know a photographer who has
just switched from Apple's Aperture to Adobe Lightroom because he has
no idea when the 40D will be supported. The tea-leaves tell me it
will be this week with 10.4.11 and in Leopard but some people need
more than that.
In the meantime there's nothing to do but speculate.
