osascript does support params since 10.4. for that and pre 10.4, see my other responses.

Hi all,

How can I pass parameters to an appleScript while invoking it from the
java code, and how can I read their value inside the appleScript?

For Runtime exec passing parameters you might want to take a look again at the recent posts on that.
The osascript command didn't support passing parameters to the AppleScript, I'm not sure if thats changed. But you might be better off resolving all parameters from the java side and including the values in the passed script.
How you read the values I'm not quite sure I understand. You might need to explain that question a little better or maybe ask on the AppleScript users mailing list. My own actual understanding of AppleScript is really still pretty basic.
