How did you get Java 6 to work on Leopard? I am in the same boat as the previous poster.

I had a Java 6 preview running on my Macbook, just upgraded to my new copy of Leopard, and no java apps work. Everything crashes, including Eclipse and running java from the command line. The Java Preferences app crashes immediately as well.

I have some steps for you to try. But, before you do anything, please file a bug at bugreport.apple.com with the crash trace so we can try to find a root cause.

-- First, delete ~/Library/Java/Caches/deployment.properties

-- Move aside your Java 1.6 directory. The 1.6 preview on Tiger does not work on Leopard.

% cd /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions

% sudo mv 1.6.0 Tiger_1.6

% sudo rm 1.6

(to remove the symlink, since it's now broken.)

This will set your default JVM back to 1.5, and Java Preferences.app will launch again.
