I have capable hardware and it does not work.

A fix soon I hope.

Can you be more specific? Can you tell me the output of the following commands in terminal?

$ /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/ Commands/
java -d64 -version

Okay, my mistake. I was using "Current" instead of "1.5.0"

Current points to an "A" directory(maybe this was mentioned already).
That "A" directory version does not work in 64bit mode.

$ sysctl hw.optional.x86_64

Spits out a 1, everything looks good.

Good.

The bug we have is that passing -d64 to /usr/bin/java does not work. If you use the full path to the 1.5 binary, it should work.

Thanks for the pointer.

Now if only X11 would work properly (does not go full screen anymore).

Is this a regression from Tiger? If so, can you file a bug for that at <http://bugreporter.apple.com>.
