If Apple wants developers to stick around they need to treat them like
human beings, not like competitors. If they invent some great new MP3
player with a built in jetpack, hey, that's something worth keeping a
secret. But to keep the future of a programming language on their
OS a
secret... that's just rude. A simple "We couldn't get J6 done in time
for release but it's coming" is all they would have to do to shut up
many of the people complaining here. Acknowledge the fact that we
exist, answer the one simple question we have and then they can go
back
to the information spy game they love so much.

Don't cite JDJ as a reliable source of information. It's utter
garbage. Also, don't start the "waaah Java 6" drama again. It's
garbage too.
To illustrate the point that JDJ is garbage: Jobs' comment about
"nobody uses Java" was in the context of an interviewer asking him why
Safari on the iPhone doesn't support applets. In that context, he's
absolutely correct. Anybody who cites that as some sort of evidence
that Apple is dropping Java needs to find a different career...
perhaps in politics.
Stick around. Leopard will see Java 6, and I suspect in fairly short
order.
