Apple historically only provides updates/ehancements for the currently
shipping operating system (now 10.5) and provides security updates and
critical updates for the prior version of Mac OS X (now 10.4). This is
a general policy not written in stone that I know of... and exceptions
to the "rule" have happened before.

Java updates have generally followed this same policy (in other words
security related updates for Tiger will continue but Panther will
likely not receive them). Given that Java releases incorporate
security fixes it is reasonable to expect updates to Java on Tiger.

If you review the following will see what Apple has done Java wise in
the past (to bad it doesn't list dates in the tables)...
