Re: Certificate Problem in Java 1.4.2 under 10.5.4

Looking again at the Google results the exception does seem to be sort of a catchall that comes up on different errors. It would be hard to believe the RSA modulus is actually in error and it doesn't always fail. It does seem to only involve Sun code and if I'm understanding correctly only relates to 1.4(.2?).
Here's another one with mac references...

http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8300945231/m/328002204931

including...

he tower - java 1.4.2, 5, os 10.4.11? (whatever was the latest for it) g4 733

macbook - 10.5.4, java 1.4.2, 5.0, 6.0

The error log is this (or atleast what the details button shows):

java.security.cert.CertificateParsingException: java.io.IOException: subject key, Unknown key spec: Invalid RSA modulus size.

It also considers PPC vs. Intel and J2SE 6 installed.

That case differs from mine in that in his case JWS did not work in J2SE 5 and 6 (although possibly due to other reasons). I have confirmed that in our case it works correctly on every 32-bit Mac, and fails on every 64-bit Mac -- even though 1.4.2 is a 32-bit JVM. I should go verify the JRE version numbers. Both the 32-bit Macs and the 64-bit Macs involved are using Java for 10.5 Update 1, and I *assume* that the JRE version of 1.4.2 is the same in both cases, but I want to verify that.
