Oh really, is it that bad?
Currently Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 2 is in beta, it is based on
1.6.0_07, the latest stable release from Sun.
All GUI stuff in the apple.laf package is rewritten since 10.5 Leopard.
They are definitely developing for new Java releases and are catching
up. The decision to go 64-bit guarantees at least a solid
future-oriented development.
