Sorry, my bad. I'm used to using UTF-8 on things so I wrote that,
but meant to write unicode. I've run native2ascii on the file and
ended up with the following unicode:
If you enter the string above into the Javascript Escapes box, it
converts into the string your graphic was displaying. As Greg Guerin
said, it seems to be doing exactly what you're asking it to do given
the Unicode codes you're giving it.
You can also open Apple's International preference pane, select the
'Character Palette' checkbox and the 'Show input menu in menu bar'
checkbox. Then click on the flag in your menu bar and choose Show
Character Palette. Select "View: Code Tables", and you can scroll down
a ways to get to Hiragana and Katakana and (I assume) other Japanese
tables (I don't know Japanese at all). From there, you can select the
characters you want and get the Unicode values.
