I think that that depends on your definition of "new Java". If you mean the latest and greatest Java version (i.e. J2SE 6+) then that is the case. The "Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 1" (that first delivered J2SE6) included updates for 1.4.2 and 1.5.0 -- all 32-bit JVMs. Hopefully we will continue to get bug fix releases for the 32-bit JVMs for some time to come.
