Ooh, yes. That is nasty. Although, it actually only returns null if the folder doesn't exist - if it exists and is empty, it gives you an empty array. So in some way that could be considered "useful", although in practice it's basically just obnoxious. I have been bitten by that one, though, and now never trust its result (usually I just use my own function that wraps it and does the sensible thing).
