Thread-topic: Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 5 Developer Preview (9M3092)
I was hoping Update 5 would fix bug 7099169 that was introduced in
Update 4, but it has not.
The basic problem is that Japanese text is does not show up in the UI
(except for the menus) for our application. Needless to say, our
customers who have installed Java for OS 10.5 Update 4 are not happy
with us.
Interestingly enough, the bug only affects PPC systems, our application
works fine on Intel.
Even more interesting is that older version of our product are not
affected by this bug. I'm still trying to figure out what has changed,
but the language handling aspects of our application is not something
that has changed recently.
Is anyone else having problems with Japanese text on PPC?

Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 5 updates Java SE 6, Java SE 5.0 and
J2SE 1.4 to deliver improved compatibility, security, and address a
number of regressions. This preview requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 or later.
Please read the Release Notes for more details, even if you can't
install the build.
File any bugs at <http://bugreporter.apple.com>, ideally with a
reproducible test case attached. Also, please file any issue that was
introduced by Update 4 that has not been addressed in this preview of
Update 5.
