Re: Java is deprecated on Mac OS X as of 10.6 Update 3!

Like everyone else I'm hugely disappointed with this announcement.

We just recently announced full support of our application potfolion on Mac
OS X.

This is all based on Java and without a cross platform layer like Java we
could / would never support Mac OS X.

The other major framework we use is Qt, which is also not welcome on Apple
devices.

The app store approval process makes it very difficult to support serious
applications...how do you deliver critical/urgent updates with it?

The legal limitation on technology that you can use on Apple devices and
appstore make very difficult to support both Apple and non-Apple devices.

The legal limitations also seriously limit what you can do with Apple
devices, a limitation that does not exist on other platforms.

But then again iOS is really not a platform, it is just an SDK for writing
Apple only applications.

As this is a public list I can't really elaborate on this to make a business
case to urge apple to continue supporting Java, but I guess I can say that I
don't see us dropping Java ...and Android with its native Java and Qt
welcome approach makes the decision on which platform to go for look like a
no brainer.

Nice job(s) Steve.
