I am working on a community-based cross-platform molecular graphics program that has to work through glut on top of X11 for reasons of ui consistency. We need to get this running with FSAA, but as far as i can tell, although this is available in carbon GLUT, something prevents me successfully requestiong GLUT_MULTISAMPLE in glutInitDisplayMode when working in glut (installed from fink, or hand compiled) over X11, possibly because of a lack of the GLX_SGIS_multisample extension ?
Am I correct in identifying this problem ? Is there hope for this in a future version of the X11/GL combination ?
