I guess few if anyone here can address your question directly. I can't. So, I'll comment on my limited experience with OpenGL under Linux. I purchased a Linux box running a 6.X version of Redhat with a 3DLabs Oxygen GVX210 Graphics Card. To get good performance, I acquired Accelerated-X and a driver for the graphics card from Xi Graphics, Inc. The Accelerated-X libraries greatly increased graphics performance over the standard Mesa Libraries. This information is dated and doesn't help with performance differences between Mesa under Linux vs. Quartz under OS X. But the Mesa Libraries were not, still may not be, optimized for OpenGL performance. The http:///www.xig.com/ site _may_ provide more information.
Good luck,
pete

How much better is (and will with quartz extreme in
10.4) opengl rendering in mac os x with quartz, than
in linux with mesa? What are the main differences, and
is one far ahead of the other performance or quality
wize (or are they equivalent)? Thanks for any replies
or info on where I can find a currect comparison.
