Re: Cross-platform Linux/OS X Development w/ SDL

I couldn't agree more.

My first IDE was Think C (anybody remember that?), then Codewarrior, now Xcode, but personaly, I find the command line tools much easier, much more powerfull but above all - much faster.
The graphical debugger can be a great tool, but I really can't remember when I last had to resort to that.

Speaking only for myself, of course, but
1) not everyone agrees the graphics tools are nicer,
2) some people just prefer the simpler (older, more familiar) way of
doing things,
3) some people like being able to use the same tools everywhere,
3a) some people feel it's better to become an expert at a few tools
than to be mediocre at many tools,
4) others have already noted the cross-platform advantages of makefiles,
4a) it's a lot easier to get management to agree to try an OSX port
if the makefiles can be reused.

As someone who still codes with vi, makefiles suit me just fine.
