(The "Atlantis" app on a modern CPU/GPU runs over 2000 fps, and it
makes tons and tons of immediate mode calls.) Much better to do
something else instead, or do nothing and let the processor nap (or
check your email).
A processor can nop but never nap!
About the 60 FPS thing, are you sure you don't have vsync enabled
somehow? Because this is exactly the behaviour you will get.
