New OS, old G4?

Another option is New OS, NEW G4,

Last August we were confronted with the same issue, to upgrade 40 g4's.

I wound up "selling" all of them for about $400 each to different campus
departments and bought a bunch of the 1 GHz eMacs (with burners) at
about $750 each, saving the $150/machine we would have spent for the
upgraded OS and additional memory.

We netted out spending only about $200 per machine ($150 without the
burners) for a full replacement. The students were thrilled to get new
machines, and the other departments were happy to get the old G4's, and
it didn't cost me an arm & a leg.

With some of the savings, we were also able to get some G5's for the die
hard art students.
