RE: InDesign Problems

The bigger issue is probably the fact that your machines are running
10.2.8! I've found that 10.3.x has far better support for network
volumes.

We have machines that are still currently running 10.2.8 and for them
I'm mounting students' folders on SMB. I've noticed that they have far
fewer saving issues. Icons and other resource fork related items have
issues but their data is properly saved, so there are few complaints.

Out test environment is running 10.3.2 (soon to get the 10.3.3 update)
and there we mount volumes on AFP. These users have almost no issues
saving files and are happy that "personal" icons are saved as well.

Hi Dan,

I'm not sure if this will help because we haven't moved to in-design CS
yet
but one Adobe thing we have a problem with is Illustrator. On adobe's
help
sight, they warn that if you save Illustrator files over a network or a
external drive, your files may become corrupted. (some crazy PDF error)

Our students users live on the server so for the first semester, I had
tons
of issues with saving files to the students "home" acct. Now I've had to
make sure all faculty tell there students that they have to save locally
then drag (as you said) to their home acct on the server.

Check out adobe's help pages and you may find something similar for
In-Design. If you find something, please, let me know.

Good luck.
