joining AD and authenticating users

Hi

I can join computers to AD using dsconfigad, but users can not login (authenticated thru AD) unless I go into Directory Access and Authentication tab and explicitly set it (add custom path).

I was hoping the one command would do it, but it appears to be a two step process. It does save time cutting and pasting the text, rather than fill in the little boxes, but short of creating a cool script that gets the hostname, pastes it into my dsconfigad command then turns on authentication in DA to AD, using Applescript GUI? i am not sure how to do this.

In short, it works manually, but to speed up the process and make it easier with my builds (master build, clone thru NetRestore) -- I appeal to all of you for ideas and suggestions.

At this point I will go to each machine after I clone them and join them with my dsconfigad command then turn authentication on in directory access.

:)
