News Ticker

This may sound overtly ambitious.

I am looking for a program that will allow me to send announcements,
informations to LAN clients which will appear as scrolling news-ticker on
their desktops. Something similar to CNN, BBC bews bar that appear on the
TV. A client-server based software would be the best solution.

We are a predominantly Mac based school.

I will summarize the recommendations.
