Bonjour (previously known as Rendezvous) will likely provide what you want.
It is very much like AppleTalk's NBP, which is probably what you were using
before.

TCP is pretty much the same as ADSP.  If you were using Open Transport for
ADSP, you can easily use TCP instead.  Or you can use the unix Sockets API
or CFNetwork.
