The problem only happens if there is no proxy server between client and server. If there is a proxy server on client, multiple connections to server work fine.

Assuming that the domain for those errors is 
kCFStreamErrorDomainPOSIX then your error is EPIPE (broken pipe)
Could it be that the server you are connecting to is set to only 
allow a certain number of simultaneous connections from a given host?
