I'm about to post a second addendum stating that I found out from xinet that
they were using a 4-internal-ATA-disk striped RAID in their tests. A 4-disk
RAID gives you some excellent performance (the way Apple does ATA, anyway),
but it provides four points of failure. If any disk fails, you lose all your
data. Hopefully you can look forward to better RAID options soon, as
described in the links above. OTOH, if you can deal with the riskiness of a
striped RAID, that setup would be a KILLER video capture/edit machine.
