The only Group issues I've had are me (an admin user), and a few others
being in too many groups (so that I can do file admin stuff on other
users without using root login). The only problem this really causes so
far is in the Finder, on the server (over the network it's OK). I have
many groups (45) and some overlap in membership btwn Group categories,
and many multiple-group users - average complexity?

Once I make a users short name longer, I have no problems adding them to
a group in Server Admin.

I think I've edited users afterwards in Server Admin with no trouble. (I
haven't had to do much with the server since I set it up a few months
ago, so it's fuzzy.)

Like what?


Don't use mail, so I can't say if that works.


I think I'll stick it out and leave things the way they are - I won't
have to change users when the MOSX 10.2 long name support arrives. (I
would change users' names too, I and others here just don't go for
cryptic names)
