Yes we have all our students names (Surname Christian-Name) set the same for
both their "short name" and their "real names" including spaces. There are
more than 800 users set this way and Macintosh manager authenticates to this
server for logins. Works like a charm.

It gets better too. We have all the users home directories set to a Win 2k
box so users can get their docs logged in from the Macs or PC's. We're not
biased here ;-) Its been this way for 6 months like I said and the only
problem we have had is when I corrupted ALL the file privileges on the
server. Did a nidump, backed up the data I needed, formated it and reloaded
OSXS to current version and ran niload, copied files back and set share
points. Worked seamlessly.

Yes we telnet in to change passwords. Sudu passwd "Username" works great.
