Moving user directories, netinfo, and you.

I apologize in advance if this has been answered for folks, I'm still digesting monday's digests, but I have seen it come up a couple of times... I have successfully moved my /Users dir on my test machine (still on test whilst I learn more about setting up DNS...) and Server Admin (more specifically, the NI db) recognizes the move.

sudo ditto -rsrc /Users /Volumes/OtherPartition/Users
sudo niutil -createprop / /users/username home /Volumes/OtherPartition/Users/username
(verify it worked then continue)
sudo rm -dr /Users
sudo ln -s /Volumes/OtherPartition/Users /Users

This seems to have worked so far, though it hasn't faced production usage. The default user home folder when creating a new user in Server Admin points to the new user dir. The hack was designed for OSX clients, but seems to work on the server (I'm using the hack without issue on my desktop machine, CLI always recognizes the new home dirs as default too).

HTH,

(As always, please correct me if I am mistaken! :))
