OSX Security with Windows 2k and Mac clients

My goal is to set up security on the network in a way that users can log in
to a Mac or a Windows 2k box with the same user ID and password and have
access to the same resources (shared files, local security) on each. Also, I
want to be able to manage users and passwords centrally.

I had originally thought I would need a Windows Advanced Server as well as
OS X server to manage security on both sides of the house and that I would
have OS X server synchronize with Active Directory - per Apple's white paper
on integrating OS X server with Active Directory.

Now, with Jaguar server using Open Directory, I am wondering if everything
can be managed from Jaguar without using Advanced Server. I hope this is the
case as it will be much easer to work with and much less expensive.

Does this sound feasable?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

--> Rusty
