LDAP Directory access problems

Hello List,

I have a few serious problems using Directory Services with LDAP.

(1) LDAP slows down operation: an "ls -l" in my users directory (200 folders) takes about 40 seconds; a simple "id" takes about 15 seconds.

(2) Groups are not working properly: When I type "id", I am in less groups than when I type "id <login>":

[macbruegge66:~] baueru% id
uid=13568(baueru) gid=20909(tumuser) groups=20909(tumuser), 106(abx), 101(arena), 252(pgsql), 270(globalse), 125(itg), 0(wheel), 305(xxp.users)

[macbruegge66:~] baueru% id baueru
uid=13568(baueru) gid=20909(tumuser) groups=20909(tumuser) 106(abx) 200(admins) 101(arena) 252(pgsql) 270(globalse) 125(itg) 102(dept) 0(wheel) 305(xxp.users)

The groups "dept" and "admins" are missing in the first list. Access rights to the filesystem uses the first list, that means I can't access to files owned by the group "dept", even if I should be in that group.

Any ideas?

Cheers, Ulrich Bauer
