No: the trailing slash doesn't work for files in most cases. It's
not correct.

Ideally things with trailing slashes are always containers (drives,
directories, shares, etc.) and things without them are always files.
If I'm writing documentation I always use those forms. However, if
you specify a container and leave out the trailing slash then you
normally find it works anyway.

There are some problems with the implementation of Macintosh-type
'Alias' files because they can be an alias to a container or an
alias to a file. I don't think the way of using them is well-
specified.
