Permissions problems!!

Hi All...

We've noticed some strange things going on with Mac OS X Client saving files to our OS X 10.2.5 server. The 9 clients are working just fine, however:

Whenever a Mac OS 9 client saves files to a sharepoint on Mac OS X Server, the following happens:

Owner - Read/Write
Group - Read/Write
Everyone - None

This is what is supposed to happen. However, when a Mac OS X client (a member of the same group as the 9 clients) saves files to the server, the following happens:

Owner - Read/Write
Group - Read Only
Everyone - None

This makes sharing files within a workgroup VERY difficult. When a member of a group places a folder in another member's folder on the server, the file comes in READ ONLY; not good, especially when the second user needs to make changes to the file!

I've tried using the AFP "Inherit from parent" folder setting, which is supposed to take on the permissions of the enclosing folder. But this results instead:

Owner - Read/Write
Group (shows as "unknown") - Read Only
Everyone - None

That's even worse! Now the group can't even open the file!

Does anyone have any ideas on this?
