Keep in mind that permissions and ownership are two different concepts.
When a user creates a new resource (like a file or folder), that
resource will always
be owned by the currently logged in user and
have group ownership of the group owner of the enclosing folder.
If you select "Inherit permissions", then the resource will not
necessarily
be the default ( rw for owner, read only for everyone else);
it will be whatever permissions the enclosing folder has.
