Hi all, how are we all doing here?
I'm given the task to change the server's IP address. I was not the
one who originally set up the server. I'm reading the manual on
"Network Preferences" and I followed the instructions for "TCP/IP
Settings: Changing a Server's IP Address".
There were 3 easy steps to follow, step 1 was to use the "changeip"
tool in the terminal. I just typed in "# changeip - oldip newip".
Step 2 was to go inth the Network pane and change the server's IP
address from there as well. The last step is to restart the server.
Everything seems to be ok, but I have 2 problems. It seems that I can
access my web page with the IP address, but I can't access it with the
URL name. For example, I can gain access to my site using
"http://134.xx.xx.xx", but I can't gain access when I type in the URL
name: "http://www.mypage.com" Does anyone have any idea as to how I
allow this mapping to work? I'm thinking that maybe I need to open
port 80 to allow users to access it, but i'm not sure?
Also on a side note, I'm also experiencing a MUCH slower internet
connection. I'm sure it has something to do with this change of IP.
Is there any configurations I should take a look at to solve this?
Thanks so much in advance!
