Unless of course you have a situation where you need to do web based authentication against an LDAP directory that it would be inappropriate and/or not possible to set up in Directory Access on that web server. Or even if you're in a situation where you have users with the same username in both a local Open Directory and an external LDAP directory, and you only want to authenticate against the external directory.


If you're authenticating against Open Directory though, you should use Apple's module.
