no, no directory listing on my server, and the page which should have appear in in this directory and is named index.php i suppoz.

what is wrong on the server causing this trouble?

You have folder listings enabled, but do you have PHP enabled?  It looks like the webmail symbolic link is actually pointing at the directory and not picking up a default.html file (or whatever default you’re using) and instead showing you a directory listing...  Right?
