afp share problem

i have microsoft remote desktop connection (rdc) installed on a mac os x 10.4.7 server afp share. when i mount the share on any mac 10.4.7 client the rdc icon appears as a generic icon and get info says it is a classic application. the rdc icon appears as expected via smb. other applications in the same share appear correctly via afp and smb.

the afp and smb share is a re-shared XSAN 1.4 volume.
kerberos, and active directory are used.

any ideas where i can look to resolve the issue.
