I'm a little perplexed by a message in the system.log file. The
message is as follows:
Aug 31 07:50:32 px7 automount[2532]: Can't mount px2.dna.root.ad:/
Volumes/Vol1/hm on /private/Network/Servers/px2.dna.root.ad/Volumes/
Vol1/hm: Authentication error (80)
Aug 31 07:50:32 px7 automount[2532]: Attempt to mount /automount/
Servers/px2.dna.root.ad/Volumes/Vol1/hm returned 80 (Authentication
error)
Aug 31 07:50:32 px7 automount[200]: Can't mount px2.dna.root.ad:/
Volumes/Vol1/hm on /private/Network/Servers/px2.dna.root.ad/Volumes/
Vol1/hm: Authentication error (80)
The host machine obviously is px7 - px2 is another xserve in the pool
of xservers. Both have home directories shared off of their
systems. But the way I read this error message is that px7 is trying
to mount px2 for the purposes of a home directory function. Am I
reading this wrong? Why would a server want to be doing that?
None of my other xserves (four of them) are experiencing this problem.
btw - it's all 10.4.7
TIA,
Brian
