Thunderbird in MCX?

Does anyone know how well Thunderbird (the open source email/Usenet/ RSS client) works in a managed MacOS X environment? I use network home directories and managed preferences quite widely right now and will start using portable home directories in the coming months. Any stories of success or horror will help me decide if I should work with Thunderbird at all.
