"Lose"
snip yada yada
"Loose" (pronounced loos) is most
Snip yada yada
Yeah, I hear you - I was thinkikng about typos the other day. There
are
certain things that stand out to me, too.
There was a time when typing perfectly was seen as ungeek. Also,
this medium
is an informal technical conversation, not a written formal English
document, so I must remember, if my partner mispronounces something
not to
lose the thread of the thought.
Mostly, I notice some of the best info here comes from folks with the
highest percentage of typos - probably because they're pretty
busy. I'm
sooooo glad to have a minute of their attention because I've
learned so very
much over these years, there is not much useful to be gained by my
worrying
about their speling.
I'm better served by following a few of the wonderful links and
hints they
provide, and passing on the best of the best to my friends. And I
try to
follow their example by always looking for some way to give back a
bit -
though my *nix chops are below par - anytime I can, it's my
obligation to
the brother-sisterhood here. (editorial/) Our future as a species
will be
determined by our ability to share and cooperate - the listserve
paradigm
gives me hope - usually (/editorial).
Someday the computers will do exactly what we meant, not what just
what we
said - which should be scary - not too far off, really, then we'll
really be
up the creek - did you catch the Kurtzweil interview on NPR the
other day?
Personally I'm happy with a few typos, 'cause it tells me I'm still
ultimately in charge - and there may not be that much time left for
us (

doesn't
need us" )
