Users Directory Network Mount over SSH

I have our Users directory on a 10.4.4 Server set as a Network Share using the default setting in Workgroup Manager, which in our case mounts it as /Network/Servers/servername/Volumes/volumename/Users

This works fine when you log in through the graphical login screen, but when I try logging onto a machine through ssh, I get this error:

Could not chdir to home directory /Network/Servers/servername/Users/ username: No such file or directory

I've tried changing it to a custom mount path in WGM and setting the path to /Network/Servers/servername/Users with no luck. Is there a way to make the clients look for the proper directory (/Network/ Servers/servername/Volumes/volumename/Users) or have it mount as / Network/Servers/servername/Users?

Thanks,
Jason
