Re: follow up on php/mysql in 10.4.4

I've had no success in resolving an apparent php 4.1 mysql 4 issue.

When hitting a formerly-working site running in 10.4.3 this a.m., I get an error indicating a password issue (access denied). Example:

http://www.clemsontailgaters.com/phpBB2/index.php

I've installed this software (OSXS 10.4.4) and it's working so I believe you're doing something wrong or configuring wrong.

I agree... but the databases aren't visible to phpmyadmin. I do hope that the data remains, as losing the databases would suck for obvious reasons.

This isn't a matter simply of phpBB2 not seeing its databases -- none of our solutions using php/mySQL can see their data. Having changed the php.ini file as recommended did nothing (after a server reboot). Had I been a bright little star, I would have imaged the entire server prior to running Apple's system update. Alas, that's not the case, so I can't go back and determine what else if fscked up.

Your databases are safe inside a folder called "data". The worst thing that can happen to it is that permissions change from mysql.

You should also have a file called "my.cnf" in the etc folder, indicating near the top the location of your MySql socket.

"socket		= /var/mysql/mysql.sock"

If there isn't one in your etc folder, you can probably find one in Mysql/support-files

My experience is that when the socket is at /var/mysql/mysql.sock the host info in the php apps should be 127.0.0.1 instead of "localhost". The same goes for "host" of mysql user permissions should be changed from localhost to "%" which means any.

In the phpBB2, what mysql are you selecting?

I'll have to reinstall the config and install folders. As you likely know, it's recommended that they be deleted after an install for obvious reasons.

Where are the mysql data table structures stored?
