Re: Password problems moving from old Panther to new Tiger server

did the same on the new server (where I had created an LDAP directory with only the diradmin acct), then merged the two copies thus:

sudo mkpassdb -mergeparent backup_authserver_folder backup_from_new_server

I personally don't see the need to create a whole new PWS, the migrations I've done have always consisted of doing a full 'mergedb', which seems much less problematic.

Does Tiger actually require Kerberos? I'd just as soon not use it if possible; it adds an extra layer of complication in an environment that probably doesn't really need it.

It is so worth it. I don't see it being a complication in your setup, you can always trash the whole Kerberos install and use mkpassdb - kerberize to bring it all back.

It really is worth getting Kerberos working.
