Re: DNS GUI and upgrade to 10.4.3

Hi !

I have just upgraded two servers from 10.3.8 thru 10.3.9 then onto 10.4.3

everything seems to have gone fine.

However when launching "server admin" there are no entries of any kind in the GUI for DNS??

DNS is working correctly and all the relevant entries are in /var/named

So why has the GUI been blitzed??

DNS GUI on Tiger is only for very simple DNS setups. It's an obvious regression in functionality from Panther and Apple did it on purpose. It is literally impossible to create the necessary DNS config through the GUI. It's absolutely user hostile! I'd rather see Panther's DNS GUI reinstated rather than deal with Tiger's DNS GUI.

I've found this inexpensive GUI that makes it possible to "see" and manage all records. http://www.carpestellarem.com/Products/StellarDNS/index.php

Has anyone seen this or better still resolved it, as I do use the GUI interface.

Regards

Tony
