re-powering G5 xserve after power failure...

We are using APC UPS and have the PowerChute Network Shutdown working on our 10.4 G5 server. What we'd also like to have happen is for the server to also power itself up after the UPS has determined that safe power has returned.

Through a number of tests, it seems the only way I can get this to happen is via virtually pulling the plug while the server is still running so we use the "restart automatically after a power failure" option of energy saver.

The issue is, I can't seem to get the "shutdown" command to do anything except restart and/or halting the system. I was assuming I could use shutdown to get my important processes shutdown, then have the UPS pull power.

Is this whooly thinking? Am I missing something here that would make this easier to accomplish? I'm assuming I'm not the first one to attempt such a task....

thanks!

Kirk
