If the computer is already on, this command doesn't do anything. So can't you just have this call going out every five minutes? If the computer is off and power is restored, it should then turn on within five minutes. Right?

Actually... a little bit of Googling revealed Power Manager 3 <http:// dssw.co.uk/powermanager/> which claims to support an unlimited number of scheduled startup events.

I imagine someone on this list can tell us how to roll our own, no? Just because Apple's dropping the ball here doesn't mean that every single Mac manager with a UPS doesn't see a need for this capability.
