Re: FTP Server has slow user connections

I find lookupd to be the culprit with slow logins. I don't know what to
do about it. Apple admits it slows things down but doesn't think it's a
serious problem. From the command line go "top -s3 -c" and watch what
happens when you you try to FTP into the machine. On a G5, lookupd goes
right to the top, hogs all the CPU and stays there 20-30 seconds. Some
say this has been fixed with recent Tiger releases, I don't know, I'm
still at 10.3.9 and holding.
