Re: DNS - SOA Question

Hello,
I've been hosting my own DNS for some time now using QuickDNS on Mac OS 9. I'm now looking to migrate to Mac OS X Server 10.4.x. In my testing I can't seem to find the right way to specify my nameserver as the SOA, without editing each of the zone files by hand. Am I doing something wrong or should I not be using the Server Admin to host multiple zones? It's just that each zone wants to be it's own SOA.

You should not be using Server Admin for hosting [serious] DNS. It's designed more for administrating sub-domains. If you want to host DNS with OS X Server, use your favorite editor as the configuration tool, a GUI is a bad crutch anyway. You're zone files will be much better construed by a human hand anyway.
