Re: re-powering G5 xserve after power failure...



All I can say on this thread is that my servers have lived through multiple hurricanes and I have learned that 1) you ain't always there, 2) your colo's generator can and do run out of diesel fuel 3) your ups will run out of juice (Note it can also fail for other reasons) 4) it ain't pretty,

but with journaling (haven't tried without) we were up and running as soon as power was restored without a hiccup....

No, we didn't install APS "helpful" software

You don't work with enough small business, or have distant clients, or...ah, yes. There are reasons there may be no one on site when power disappears.


The system should contact you that it has lost power and is in UPS mode with enough time for someone to show up and find out what is wrong.
