Hello all,
I'm having problems setting up Mac clients to print to queues hosted in AD.
After setting up the print queue on one client and using WGM to force print
prefs to all machines, the printer appears on the clients (all clients bound
to AD, logged in using AD account, Mac environment is managed at Machine
level using WGM), no problem there, but I always get the following message
when printing to the newly set up printer:
The process "pictwpstops" stopped unexpectedly with an error type 1
I've tried setting up the clients in 3 ways:
1) Open Printer Setup Utility, -> Add -> IP Printer.
Protocol=LPD.
Address=print server IP address.
Queue=print queue name, typed exactly as is, matching case etc.
Name and Location= I can type what I want here, as far as I know
Add to machine accounts using WGM
2) Open Printer Setup Utility, -> Add -> IP Printer.
Protocol=IPP.
All other settings as above.
3) Open Printer Setup Utility, -> Default browser. This last option looks
really simple (selected the new printer, it does the rest like choosing a
driver etc). But, I get the same message as all other routes.
As far as I know the last time I added a printer I used the 1st option and
everything worked fine, eventually. I recall going through the same
frustration as I'm going through now (If only I had made a note of where
that 'make AD printer queues work for Mac clients' button was).
Any help, insight much appreciated.
Regards,
Colin
