Re: Error Code -35 when using AFP

I get this error when I try to connect to an old AFP server (NetWare 6), that doesn't support encrypted passwords, if I don't have "Allow sending password in clear text" in the "Options" sheet of the Finder "Connect to Server" authentication dialog.

Unfortunately, if the password is the problem, the error will come up before the authentication dialog. I found that I could begin a connection to one of our Mac OS X servers so I could check the box, and then cancel the dialog and begin a connection to the NetWare server.

Since that checkbox controls the value at ~/Library/ Preferences/.GlobalPreferences plist:com.apple.AppleShareClientCore:afp_cleartext_allow, one could also edit the plist to change it.

Does anybody know how to fix the following error that I get when
trying to mount a file server via AFP?

"The operation cannot be completed because one or more required items
cannot be found. (Error Code -35)
